About the Event

The young soprano Ekaterina Savva and the pianist Ivelina Russeva invite you to an evening dedicated to the Italian opera at Markideio Theatre, on Friday, 4th of March 2022 at 20:00.

After their first appearance as a duet, six years ago at Technopolis 20, the two Paphos based musicians return for a beautiful musical journey to the Italian opera. Ekaterina Savva, graduate of the Mozarteum University Salzburg and Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London and the experienced Bulgarian pianist Ivelina Ruseva, will present a programme that will include well known Italian classical opera pieces composed by A. Scarlatti, G.B. Pergolesi, W.A. Mozart, G. Rossini, G. Donizetti, V. Bellini, G.Verdi, G. Puccini, S. Donaudy.

A few words about the artists: 

Ekaterina Savva has worked as a professional singer for many years now. She graduated in opera studies at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. During her studies in Austria, a country with a classical music culture, she studied with very important figures of international classical music, among them: Ioli Musteri, the Italian soloist Maestro Antonio Carangelo, the Jewish-American prima Helene Schneiderman, the American vocal pedagogue Prof. Prof. Dr. David Jones and Dale Fundling the international opera singers Mario Antonio Diaz Varas, Corneliu Murgu, Julie Kaufmann, Barbara Bonney, Ruggiero Raimondi and collaborated in performances and projects with Alessandro Misciasci (Italian repertory), Gaiva Bandzinaite, Vyara Shuperlieva, Ivor Bolton, Yiannis Hadjilouizou, Guy Chambers and others. After completing her studies in Austria, she won a scholarship for the Guildhall School of Music & Drama where she continued her Master vocal studies and where her vocal teacher was the renowned Australian opera singer Ivonne Kenny and her Russian repertory studies with the distinguished pianist and vocal coach Lada Valesova. Ekaterina has appeared numerous times in the Salzburg Festival, Salzburg Landes Theater, Nicosia Municipal Theatre, Rialto Theater, Kurion Amphitheatre, in different operatic roles and concerts as well as held her solo concerts, charity as well as for German nobility, in Austria, Germany, the UK, Cyprus and Bulgaria. She teaches classical vocals in her private vocal studio in Paphos, and one of her students recently got accepted to study classical vocals at the renowned Codarts University of Arts, Rotterdam. She has also taken part in many international singing competitions, among which Sylvester Levay Musical Competition-Munich, Evergreen Fest-Sofia, etc. and masterclasses with the international opera stars Barbara Bonney, Ruggiero Raimondi, Julie Kaufmann, Maestro Antonio Carangelo and others. Recently, she became one of the finalists in TV vocal competition "The Voice of Bulgaria".

Ivelina Ruseva (piano) was born in Ruse, Bulgaria. She began studying the piano aged seven and at ten she was accepted into the "Veselin Stogianov" music school in Ruse she participated in many concerts and competitions for solo piano. In 1992 she graduated with honors and began her studies at the "Pancho Vladigerov" National Music Academy in Sofia, from which she also graduated with honors. Twenty years ago, she settled in Paphos where she has developed a sterling reputation both as a performer and a teacher, taking part and organising numerous cultural events and piano recitals and chamber music performances.
