Sonic Punishment at Technopolis 20

Sonic Punishment is a newly formed trio based in the Netherlands, led by drummer and composer Adonis David Christou, as a result of his desire to bring his original compositions to life and explore the boundaries between traditional/folk, jazz, and rock music.

Characterized by complex rhythms, odd time signatures as well as polyrhythmical grooves, Adonis musical style fuses different genres into a truly unique sound. Together with Cathal Cradden on the keys and Eljo Hendrosuseno on the electric bass, they are dedicated to create music that is both technically intricate but also emotionally engaging.

The trio’s collaborative approach with emphasis on improvisation and interplay gives them the freedom to explore live the endless music possibilities. Since their first meet up in 2024, the group has been trying to find its own distinct voice in the contemporary music industry.
