Technopolis 20, adapting to the new circumstances and continuing to support the local artists, presents a new recital series for solo intimate performances at Technopolis 20 venue, entitled ‘SOLOS: Concerts for One’. The first concert will be dedicated to flute, performed by Savvas Christodoulou, on Tuesday, 22nd of December 20, at 7:00pm.
Instruments like the woodwinds, the percussion or even the strings are mostly seen when are accompanied by other instruments, in big orchestras or in chamber music concerts. The concept behind the ‘SOLOS: Recitals for One’ is each month, one artists, by some of Cyprus’ leading classical musicians, to be invited to play some beautiful music, in our venue, in a family friendly setting, for a small number of audiences. Each soloist will take you on a musical roadway, exploring the music that's made them to love the instrument and giving you a unique insight of the capabilities of each instrument.
Savvas Christodoulou, a brilliant young flutist, studied in Prague National Conservatory and at the Utrecht Conservatory, and at the same time he was a member of the Conservatoire Symphony Orchestras in both Prague and Utrecht, while today is a guest member of Cyprus Symphony Orchestra and founder of the Cyprus-based Quintus Wind Quintet. Enjoy him in a programme that will include works by J. S. Bach, G. F. Telemann, Claude Debussy, Arthur Lourie, Jacque Ibert and more.

Savvas Christodoulou (flute): was born in Limassol where he began his musical studies at a young age. In 2005 he moved to Prague to study flute performance at the Prague National Conservatory from where he graduated in 2010. In the same year he was accepted at the Utrecht Conservatory to study with the world-famous flute soloist Aldo Baerten. During his time as a student, he was a member of the Conservatoire Symphony Orchestras in both Prague and Utrecht. He obtained his bachelor’s degree on flute performance and education with honors in 2012. In addition, he studied the piccolo with Gudrun Bourel and Baroque performance with the internationally renowned baroque flute specialist Wilbert Hazelzet. In 2015 he obtained his master’s degree in flute performance on stages. He participated in several Masterclasses worldwide with famous flutists such as Sir James Galway, Emmanuel Pahud, W.Bennett, P.L. Graf, M. Bellavance, S.Milan, D.Bouriakov and others. Alongside his teaching engagements at the Pafos and Limassol Music Lyceums, Savvas enjoys a performing career as a soloist, chamber and orchestral musician. He appears regularly in flute recitals and chamber music concerts in The Netherlands, Belgium, Czech Republic, Greece and Cyprus. He is a guest member of Cyprus Symphony Orchestra and he appears regularly with the Commandaria Orchestra. Savvas is also the founder of the Cyprus-based Quintus Wind Quintet and a member of the Ensemble Cyclamen.
