About the Event
“Pocket Brass” band comes for the first time at Technopolis 20 garden on the 6th of October, 20:00.
The members of the Brass Trio from Cologne are Bernd Lechtenfeld on Trombone, Ralph Himmler on Trumpet / Flügelhorn and Achim Fink on Tuba. A list of musicians the trio's members worked with goes from shows with Frank Sinatra and Sarah Vaughn to the WDR BigBand with Billy Cobham and Hiram Bullock to the “Talking Horns“, diverse Brass Bands and Udo Jürgens.

Some of the pieces that are included in the programme are the following: Gibraltar, Love for Sale, Caravan, Laurita (Richard Galliano), Blackbird, You Are So Beautiful, The Preacher.

A few words about the musicians
Bernd Lechtenfeld – Trombone/Arranger
Born 1959, studied at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, before returning to Germany, where he started his career as trombonist and arranger. Played with various Big Bands and other formations, including with Frank Sinatra, Sarah Vaughn, Billy Cobham, Hiram Bullock, Albert Mangelsdorff, Manfred Schoof Orchestra, Peter Giger, Joe Gallivan, Pepe Lienhard, Faculty Jazz Ensemble, WDR Big Band, NDR Big Band, Georg Rubys Blue Art Orchestra and Bayer Big Band. Several CD Productions incl. with the Cologne Trombone Summit and the Duo-Project West Side Story with guitarist Robert Mensebach.
Ralph Mosch Himmler – Trumpet / Fluegelhorn
Born 1962, studied with Ack van Rooyen, Eric van Lier, Bert Joris, Ferdinand Povel. Played with Dutch Jazz Orchestra, RIAS-Big-Band, Buddy de Franco, James Moody, Al Grey,Leo Wright, Shirley Bassey, Mike und Steve Procaro, Bobby Kimbal (Toto), Udo Lindenberg, Steve Gadd a.m.o. in over 30 countries. Teaches at colleges in Frankfurt and Saarbrucken.
Achim Fink – Tuba
Born 1954, studied classical trombone at Cologne music academy with Vinko Globokar. In the 1980s he was one of the initiators of the JazzHaus School. Participated in many theatre productions, several of them premieres, in Hamburg, Bonn, Cologne, Berlin, Dortmund, Koblenz and Duesseldorf. Played with the Trio Finküberthurm, Norbert Steins Pata Masters, Frank Köllges Padlt Noidlt and with the Soul Cats. Founded the brass ensemble Talking Horns in 1994 and performed in Madagaskar, Ruanda, Gabun, Kamerun, Senegal, Mauretania, Morocco, Yemen und Egypt.
