About the Event

Technopolis 20 presents the newly formed jazz trio ‘O.A.K.’, on Friday, 28th of November 2022, at 8pm.

The trio is comprised of Andreas Panteli on acoustic piano, Kyriacos Kesta on upright bass and Omiros Miltiadous on drums. Their main focus is to “converse” on standard compositions from the Great American Songbook and approach original and fresh sounds. Their style and musical language are derived and influenced by the tradition of jazz music. Nonetheless, they also keep up with contemporary elements and approaches. O.A.K. Trio is deeply influenced from great piano Trios such as those of Phineas Newborn, Bill Evans, Keith Jarret, Brad Mehldau and Gerald Clayton.

A few words about the musicians:

Jazz pianist Andreas Panteliis an active member of the Cyprus Jazz scene. He is a graduate of the Rotterdam Conservatorium (B.A.) and the Royal Conservatory of Den Haag (M.A.) and currently he teaches jazz piano at the University of Nicosia. He performs as an improviser and composer with groups like Fuzz Bus, Sonica, Quintedo, Alexis Kasinos Quintet, Cahit Kutrafali Group etc, playing at various local and international jazz festivals and venues, with notable collaborations with great international artists lie Guthrie Govan and Gilad Atzmon.

Kyriakos Kestas is a Cypriot upright bass player from Limassol that started his music career at the age of 15. Since then, he has been an active member of the Cypriot and Dutch jazz scene, having played in festivals such as the ‘Paradise Jazz Festival’, the ‘Rialto Jazz & Word Music Showcase’, the ‘Leiden Jazz & Blues Festival’ and other.He finished his studies in 2022 at the Royal Conservatory of the Hague.

Omiros Miltiadous is a Cypriot musician who was born in Limassol in 1991. He encountered music for the first time at the age of 16 where he enrolled to have lessons with one of the most prominent drummers of the island, George Koulas where he was taught Latin percussions and drums. After he finished his military service he started his preparation for his studies with another great drummer, Stelios Xydias. In 2012, he was enrolled in The Royal Conservatory of The Hague where he obtained his B.A. and M.S. degree on Jazz Drumming with the great Eric Ineke as a main teacher. He had lessons and workshops with drummers such as Adam Nussbaum, John Riley, Nasheet Waits and Eric Harland. Since then, Omiros has performed at some major European scenes, theatres and festivals such as Bimhuis, North Sea Festival, North Sea Round Town and performed with great Ducth musicians such as Benjamin Herman, Renier Bass and Rob van Bavel. Omiros is currently active playing and recording in various band formations and functions in Cyprus.
