About the Event

Nama Dama, who was nominated in 2023 for two awards, “Female Musician of the Year” (Madame Figaro) and “Young Artist of the Year” (THOC), returns to Technopolis 20, for a solo performance on the 17th of January at 20:00.

A performance artist from Nicosia, Nama Dama is the stage name of the Cypriot-Ukrainian artist Anastasia Demetriadou. Growing up in Cyprus, she developed a massive interest for folk music and storytelling. Her music is a combination of folk and electronic, accompanied by both atmospheric and intense vocals. Using live looping as her compass, she turns her one-woman act into a unique colorful ritual.

She is currently presenting her latest show PAGAN SOUL, a spiritual performance that discusses human roots and today’s world order, shedding more light on events such as the ongoing war in her second mother country, Ukraine.

Nama Dama began performing in 2019, slowly building a loyal fanbase. Her first EP "Confessions to My Songbird" was released in 2021. She has since performed at Tremor Festival in the Azores, twice at Fengaros Festival, the University of Cyprus Cultural Festival at Axiothea, TEDx Limassol, Cyprus Jazz and World Music Showcase, as well as various smaller venues around Cyprus. Today she splits her time between her music as Nama Dama and working for theatre productions.

After getting her degree in English language & translation and a short teaching career, she decided to abandon it and return to her true love, music. She created her solo act in 2019. Her first songs were performed with only a piano and a voice in small bars in Cyprus. After releasing her first EP ‘Confessions to my Songbird, ’ she was determined to create her own band, but all attempts failed either due to bad timing, or because she had a hard time finding the right people. After these failed attempts, she decided to take up live looping and bring her one-woman act to the next level.

Today, she uses her multitasking skills to create a new genre she calls Pagan Soul. An amalgam of pagan folk patterns and intense vocals, woven together with soul-pop vocals and electronic elements. Her performances have a colorful, ritualistic character.

Reservations are necessary at 70002420.

Entrance: 10 euro
