A crack appears when something stops being self-evident. When continuity is interrupted and time leaves its mark on the body, the object, the relationship. It is not always the result of violence; often, it is simply the outcome of co/existence. We live under the illusion of integrity—of a stable identity, an unbroken form, a life free of fractures. Yet to exist means to decay, to change, to crack. The crack thus becomes a point of meeting with our own finitude. It reminds us that we are not closed, self-sufficient systems, but beings in constant transformation.

The crack is not always experienced as a possibility. It can become fear. The realisation that something can break often leads us to overprotection, control, and distance. Instead of living, we preserve. Instead of trusting, we hold back. And ultimately, in the effort to lose nothing, the experience itself is lost.
