Experience an unforgettable evening of classical music with the Alpine Brass Quintet on Sunday, 16th of June 2024, at the historic Paphos Ancient Odeon in Kato Paphos, presented by the “Technopolis 20 Classics” concert series.

The Alpine Brass Quintet features five virtuoso musicians: Immanuel Richter, principal trumpet of the Basel Symphony Orchestra; Laurent Tinguely, principal trumpet in the Zurich Opera Orchestra; Joan Bernat Sanchis, principal horn of the Zurich Opera Orchestra; Daniel Schädeli, principal tuba in the Berne Symphony Orchestra and the Gstaad Festival Orchestra and Vicente Climent Calatayud, principal trombone of the Bern Symphony Orchestra.

Join us for an evening steeped in history and musical excellence, set against the stunning backdrop of the ancient Odeon. Immanuel Richter (trumpet) received his training at the Zurich Conservatory under Claude Rippas, where he completed all his diplomas (teaching, orchestral and concert diplomas) with distinction. Already in his youth he won several prizes at various competitions. He attended master classes with Hakan Hardenberger, Pierre Thibaud, Allen Vizzutti and Maurice André, among others. Immanuel Richter has worked as a solo trumpeter in various orchestras (Zurich Opera Orchestra, St. Gallen Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana). For 3 years he was principal trumpet of the "orchestra dell teatro alla Scala" in Milan, where he played under conductors such as Daniel Barenboim, Lorin Maazel, Georges Prêtre, Daniele Gatti, Riccardo Chailly, Gustavo Dudamel and many others. In summer 2009, he joined the Basel Symphony Orchestra as principal trumpet. Numerous appearances as a soloist and chamber musician. He has been a trumpet lecturer at the Lucerne School of Music since 2008.

Laurent Tinguely (trumpet) has been principal trumpet in the Zurich Opera Orchestra (Philharmonia Zurich) since 1987. There he received important musical impulses from renowned conductors such as Franz Welser-Möst, Daniele Gatti, Bernard Haitink, Zubin Mehta, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Nello Santi and Christoph von Dohnányi. He is also a regular guest with most professional orchestras in Switzerland.

As a chamber musician, Laurent Tinguely performs in various ensembles at international festivals and has won several prizes at national and international music competitions.

Laurent Tinguely is professor of trumpet at the Zurich University of the Arts.

Joan Bernat Sanchis (horn) was born in Valencia, Spain, in 1996 and received his first horn lessons from his father Juan Bernat Alcaide and Prof. D. Vicente Zarzo. He later studied with Prof. Radovan Vlatković at the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía in Madrid and at the Zurich University of the Arts.

He has been principal horn of the Philharmonia Zurich (Zurich opera) since 2022. He also regularly plays with various European orchestras such as the Munich Philharmonic, the Camerata Salzburg, the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich and the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen.

He is particularly interested in the tradition of early music on historical instruments and regularly plays the natural horn with the orchestra La Scintilla Zurich.

Since 2019, he has held a teaching position for French horn at the Tyrolean State Conservatory.

In addition to his main professional activity as a solo tuba player in the Bern Symphony Orchestra and the Gstaad Festival Orchestra, his solo activities and as a member of internationally award-winning ensembles such as Lucerne Chamber Brass, Festival Brass, Espace Brass and Pro Brass, Daniel Schädeli's (tuba) main focus has always been on teaching. Whether as a guest lecturer in private and master classes, workshops or in his original home, at the Wohlen Region Music School, where he has developed various projects for the targeted musical development of children and young people over the past 20 years. Daniel Schädeli has been a lecturer for tuba and chamber music at the Haute école de musique de Lausanne (HEMU) since 2020.

Vicente Calatayud (trombone) has been a trombone soloist with the Bern Symphony Orchestra under the direction of its chief conductor Krzysztof Urbański since the 2015 season. He has been a guest trombonist with the Gstaad Festival Orchestra under the direction of Jaap Van Zweeden since 2017. From 2019 to 2021 he was trombone soloist of the Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia di Roma under the direction of Maestro Antonio Pappano. He recently won an audition as trombone soloist with the renowned London Symphony Orchestra. He is currently professor of trombone at the Haute École de musique de Lausanne (HEMU).
