The pianist Mario Dias from Brazil, presents a piano solo recital, a tribute for the 120 years of the birth of the Brazilian composer Francisco Mignone, one of the most significant figures in Brazilian classical music, on Friday, 1st of September, at 20:30. The programme will include the composer’s 12 Street Corner Waltzes, a different recital not to be missed.
The pianist Mario Dias was born in Brazil and began his piano studies in his early teens. Essentially self-taught, at the age of 16 he was studying under the guidance of the piano teacher and performer Jorge Preiss. After one year, he began performing in front of audiences. He entered the Santa Catarina State University in Florianopolis at the age of 19, where he studied with Ione Urbano Sant' Anna (a former pupil of Magda Tagliaferro). Later, he continued his studies for four years with the pianist and composer Alberto Heller, a known pianist and composer in Southern Brazil. He attended workshops and master-classes, run by renowned teachers and he has performed in the cities of Aracaju, Itajaí, Joinville and Florianopolis, where he presented music by Brahms, Liszt, Chopin, Debussy and others.
