FROM PARIS WITH JAZZ
A journey of Jazz music from America
to Paris of 1945
Wednesday, 18 May, Technopolis 20 garden, 20:00
During 1945, important American jazz composers (such as Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Dizzy Gilespie, Miles Davis) took refuge, from the racial discrimination in America, in France. This had as a result to meet other great musicians also persecuted from other countries but also French nationals (such as Django Reinhardt, Stéphane Grappelli), all having as a common language the one of jazz music.
The concert will present the result of these meetings, the influence of French culture in its development and is addressed to an audience both familiar and not with jazz and “gypsy jazz” music, presenting hidden musical diamonds, the history of songs and the conditions that have been created.
